Dog Duty

Credit: SOEDESCO

Dog Duty throws you into chaotic, top-down battles against an army of trigger-happy octopi led by the ruthless Octopus Commander. Assemble your three-person squad of misfits, jump between islands, and wage fast-paced guerrilla warfare to free captured outposts. Every fight is a blur of explosions, bullets, and bad jokes as you battle squid tanks and madcap bosses from the roof of your armored ride. It’s loud, reckless, and proudly ridiculous—an old-school tactics romp with plenty of ink to spill.

Police Shootout

Police Shootout puts you in the boots of Scott Price, a city cop starting over in the quiet streets of San Adrino. Every call is a test, shop robberies, hostage crises, tense standoffs, and how you handle them defines the kind of officer you become. Talk your way out or pull the trigger; the choice is always yours. With each mission, you uncover new skills, deeper motives, and the truth behind why you really came here. It’s a slow burn of duty, doubt, and the fine line between justice and survival.

It’s hard to dream when you’ve seen the same nightmare before. Little Nightmares 3 returns to the suffocating darkness of its predecessors, only this time, it feels like the lights have been left on. What once crawled under your skin now barely grazes it. The addition of online co-op should’ve been the spark to reignite this eerie world, but instead, it plays like déjà vu with two flashlights instead of one. There’s still beauty in its gloom: flickers of imagination, grotesque designs, and moments that almost recapture the series’ old magic, but for the first time, waking up feels like a relief, not a loss.

Two kids, one fading fear

Low and Alone make for an evocative pair, tiny figures lost in vast, broken spaces that seem designed to swallow them whole. You can play as either — bow or wrench in hand — while the other tags along, steered by an AI that’s as unreliable as the floorboards beneath you. On paper, the dual approach promises dynamic puzzles and layered cooperation. In practice, each tool feels hemmed in, every solution signposted. The eerie silence that once stretched between thought and action has been replaced by something safer, more predictable. What was once dread now feels like routine.

From the sand-choked Necropolis to the twisted fairgrounds of Carnavale, each of the four realms carries the same sense of warped wonder that made the series famous — but less bite. The Carnavale chapter nearly redeems the whole trip, a grotesque carnival of bodies and noise where horror takes on a theatrical flair. Yet elsewhere, the rhythm dulls: the same stealth, the same chase, the same stumble into death and restart. There’s a hollow familiarity to every plank you drag and every vent you crawl through. The world still looks stunning, its grotesquery framed like a moving painting, but that haunting pulse — that sense of something watching — rarely returns.

You can share this nightmare with a friend, which sounds brilliant in theory. In practice, the restrictions — online-only play, no couch co-op, no drop-in flexibility — turn connection into inconvenience. The friend pass is generous, but the design itself doesn’t demand partnership; it merely tolerates it. Playing as Low or Alone changes little beyond aesthetics. It’s no It Takes Two — more like It Takes One and a Half. And when the AI misfires, you’ll find yourself longing for the simplicity of being truly alone again.

Bottom line

Little Nightmares 3 still carries everything that once defined the series: the moody lighting, the hollow echo of footsteps in endless corridors, and that unsettling sense of being small in a world built to devour you. Yet somehow, the soul feels missing. Its co-op ideas trip over old mechanics, and the scares fade almost as soon as they appear. The artistry remains, the same eerie silhouettes and painterly shadows, but the effect is softer, less gripping. The nightmare goes on, only this time it feels like something you’ve already survived.
