A big welcome back to all Loot Happens subscribers. Loot Happens is a weekly newsletter that is emailed and posted on LootHappens.com.

It's important to note that for premium subscribers, game offerings and in-game content, every week is different. Sometimes it's in-game codes, Steam keys, and giveaways, but premium members will always get something special every mailing. We also occasionally get mind-blowing early access or premium games that pay for an entire year's subscription.

Each newsletter is generally structured as Premium Loot > Free Sub Giveaways > Game Feature > Game discounts.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 isn’t just a return, it’s a revival with attitude. The second “Ace of Spades” explodes through your speakers, it’s like your hands remember the lines before your brain does. You’re right back in the groove—chaining reverts, manuals, and grinds through airport terminals, industrial parks, and downhill runs that feel burned into your muscle memory. It’s been over two decades, but the magic still sticks. Even with a new developer at the helm, this remake doesn’t miss the mark—it sticks the landing, and then some.

Following up the near-perfect 1 + 2 remake was always going to be tricky, especially after Vicarious Visions was absorbed and the project stalled out. But Iron Galaxy picks up where they left off, delivering crisp visuals, tight controls, and a roster that spans old legends and fresh faces alike. It doesn’t reinvent the series, and it doesn’t need to—THPS 3 + 4 is here to celebrate a golden age of arcade skating, and it does so with enough style and speed to make you believe the Birdman never left

The game remains in sync with THPS 1+2

The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 package doesn’t split itself into nostalgia and novelty—it seamlessly blends the two into one cohesive experience. Just like in 1 + 2, each game has its progression path, but under the hood, everything connects. Tricks like spine transfers—originally a THPS4 addition—are available from the start in both games, smoothing the move set into one unified system. Stat upgrades, in-game currency, and unlockables all flow through a shared pool, which means you’re always building something, no matter which levels you’re playing. It’s a smart, streamlined approach that doesn’t interrupt the flow. If you’ve skated through 1 + 2, you’ll feel right at home here. If you haven’t, this is still one of the most approachable and tightly tuned arcade experiences around.

What keeps it all from feeling like a rehash is the level design, and THPS3 + 4 brings some of the most iconic maps in the series back to life with style. Foundry is as molten and industrial as you remember, Cruise Ship still dares you to chase the perfect line without falling overboard, and Airport remains a masterclass in flow and verticality. Each location has been reworked with just enough modern fidelity to shine without losing the playful, geometry-first approach that made them classics in the first place. Every level is a playground waiting to be broken by a perfect combo line—and when it clicks, it’s pure dopamine. This is Tony Hawk as it was meant to be: fast, fun, and forever rewarding for those who keep pushing.

Bottom line

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is more than just a nostalgia trip; this game is a high-speed, combo-chasing revival of arcade skating at its most joyful. It captures the slick precision and outrageous fun that defined early 2000s gaming, before online storefronts and season passes complicated everything. Whether you’re a newcomer learning the basics or a veteran chaining million-point lines from muscle memory, this remake reminds you why the series was king.

Not every decision lands—shoehorning THPS4 back into a two-minute format strips away some of its open-ended charm, and gutting the soundtrack will sting for fans who skated to every last note. But when you're mid-run, wheels screeching, meters maxed out, and pulling off combos you weren’t even sure were possible, none of that matters. The soul of THPS is still here—and it's still grinding strong.
